The current backend uses Cognito-authenticated API routes, private S3 document storage, tenant-scoped DynamoDB metadata, role-based permissions, and activity logs for key document actions.
Where is my data stored?
Uploaded documents are stored in a private AWS S3 bucket, while document metadata is stored in DynamoDB under the authenticated client's tenant profile.
Who can access my documents?
Only you and users you explicitly authorize can access your documents. You have complete control over permissions - you can grant view-only, edit, or full access to specific individuals or teams. All access is logged for your review.
How do I recover access if I lose my password?
You can reset your password through our secure email verification process. If you've enabled multi-factor authentication, you'll need access to your registered authentication method. Our support team can also assist with identity verification for account recovery.
Can family members or business partners access documents if needed?
Yes, you can designate trusted contacts with specific access permissions. For business accounts, you can set up team hierarchies with role-based access. We also offer legacy access features for estate planning purposes.
How does eAsset Vault approach Kenya data protection requirements?
eAssetVault is designed with privacy and controlled access in mind, but formal legal compliance should be confirmed through policy review, operational controls, and legal assessment before making certification claims.
What happens to my data if I cancel my account?
If you choose to cancel, you'll have 30 days to download all your documents. After this period, your data will be securely deleted from our servers. We provide detailed instructions and support throughout the process.
How long are my documents retained?
Your documents are retained for as long as your account is active. You control the retention - delete files whenever you choose. For compliance purposes, we maintain audit logs for a minimum period as required by law.
